2006:06:20 - Tales of everything

News in the order most of you probably care:

Tales of Symphonia: the Animation - Apparently an adaptation. -_-

Tales of Destiny - Remake for the PS2. ToR-like graphics. Has Aerial LMBS, which seems to only have one line. Will be released this Winter.

Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition - Port for the PSP. It's got three-heads-high battle sprites. Release date is September 9, 2006.

Tales of Destiny 2 (J) - Port for PSP. Due out 2007.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology - Crossover game for PSP. You get to create a custom main character. It has 3D graphics and FR-LMBS (like ToA). Will be released this Winter.

Tales of the Tempest - Word is the Japanese release date is August 24, 2006. I can't find an official source for that, but it seems likely. (Also, there was a media update to the Tempest page a long time ago that I haven't mentioned here until now. That includes videos.)

Tales of the Abyss - Gameplay videos added to the ToA page. The official release date for the US is currently "Fall 2006," by the way. Stop trying to invent other dates.

Tales of Wahrheit - Kind of old news, but this is the new Tales of Mobile RPG to be released this month. This has the same 2-on-2 LMBS as the last two, but this time it makes use of the GRADE system and Grade Shop from the console Tales. It has skits and stuff like ToC, as well as ToC's chara designer, Shiina Yuu, at work. The main character is the son of a world-famous weapons trader, and thus a rich kid. He goes with his father to a demonstration meeting about some new weapon. A battle starts concerning the new weapon. [Source and Pics]

Pics and info pages forthcoming.

Also, for anyone who wants to be able to read ToP-PSX's script, here it is.

2006:04:26 - Abyss has NA release!

~Update by Cless Aileron

We got something big here with E3 coming closer!

Tales of the Abyss is coming to North America! That's right! That teaser on the back of the Tales of Legendia manual had some meaning (even if it didn't mean what we were thinking). The official Tales forum has been updated with a section for it. For now, the target date mentioned is for Fall of this year and even stated that there is suppose to be extra contents for the North America version.

For now, you can check out Gamespot's preview of it (consider this another source).
2006:04:05 - Yes, another delay.

~Update by Cless Aileron

Tales Channel has another character up. He goes by the name of Lukius Bridges. He's a monk of the church. Also of note, he wears a mask.

Tales of the Tempest was previously delayed from its April 30th date to June 8th. Now it's been delayed again. The only thing mention is that they're trying to get it released in 2006 but that is it. There is now no solid release date for the time being. We'll report when a release date has been made.
2006:02:23 - How the heck does Forest's last name romanize like that?

~Update by Cyllya

I doubt anyone noticed since I didn't mention it here, but there's been a page for Tempest up for a while. I've just finished updating it with seven screenshots (wow, a whole seven), three character bios, and four arts.

2006:01:27 - Tempest Update

~Update by Cless Aileron

Here I am, making a news update on the day of my birthday. Of course, I don't mind. To start off, we have a very cool logo for Tales of the Tempest on our left.

Teichan has updated the Tales of the Tempest site with some new info and some screenshots of the game. The theme song for the game is called Versus and will be sung by Misono, the vocal for Day After Tomorrow. Also, another character have also been revealed by the name of Rubia Natwick.

2006:01:10 - ToL NA Release Date

~Update by Cless Aileron

Hope you guys had a good holiday and welcome to the new year. The first update of the new year will be a quick one.

Tales of Legendia has an official North America release date. It will be released on February 7th. If you haven't preordered it, do so. You'll get an artbook for preordering.

On a (pretty late) side note, the Second Character Popularity poll did not have Leon and Judas dominating the poll. Kratos won first place with Leon Magnus ending up in second place, while Zelos took third place and Judas in fourth. Looks like Leon cheating did not really help him this time.
2005:12:12 - Dual-screened Tales

~Update by Cless Aileron

A new Tales game has been revealed.

While Namco has previously trademarked four names (Tales of Tempest, Tales of Doom Sign, Tales of Two Faiths, and Tales of Howling), the first name is (sort of) the name of the game. Tales of the Tempest (and most people were probably expecting Tales of Doom Sign to be the name on the count of its initials fitting with the DS's naming fad of having DS as part of a game's initial). Teichan's official site only has a teaser up and has only revealed the male character (His name is Caius Qualls), going for a 2006 release and that Mutsumi Inomata is doing character design.

Also, just a reminder, to continue sending in your Tales memories to me if you haven't done it already (Once again, send it to ClessAileron @ yahoo.com and make sure to remove the spaces on both side of the @ sign and put "Tales Memories" as the subject).
2005:11:24 - ToA and Tenth Anniversary Tribute

~Update by Cless Aileron

Teichan has updated with ToA Info.

First of all, they have still shots of the opening on the site. Also, the skits will be a mixture of Face Chats and Screen Chats. Finally, another "seen but wasn't previously named" character, Asch, who is one of six of the "Divine Generals".

I'd also like to announce a little something. Cyllya and I have agreed upon doing this as part of a tribute for the tenth anniversary of the Tales series. We're going to have a section on the site where we can share our memories of the series. Contribute your Tales memories by mailing it to my e-mail address. It's ClessAileron @ yahoo.com (remove the spaces on both side of the @ sign) and make sure to start the subject with "Tales Memories" (It just helps to sort the mail out). Also, make sure to leave your username in the message so I know whose memories it is. Long time Tales fan, new to the series, short memories, long memories. Doesn't matter. Just send it my way. It'll be our way of paying tribute to a series that captured our hearts.
2005:11:12 - More ToA and Character Popularity Contest Part 2

~Update by Cless Aileron

New info on ToA has been revealed.

Ion, a 14 year old boy (who happens to look like a girl), is the leader of the Lorelei group. He will accompany the group as an NPC. The Taltalos is ship that will be used for travelling. Lastly, recipes for cooking will be taught by villagers (Once again, Wonder Chef goes AWOL).

Also, Teichan has another Character Popularity Contest going. Go vote for your favorite Tales character (Though something's telling me Leon's going to cheat...again. And the TotA cast is on there, even though the game's not out yet).
2005:11:03 - We thought it'd never happen

~Update by Cyllya

Namco refused to let another company translate ToP-PSX and flat-out announced that they wouldn't be translating ToP-GBA, but they changed they're mind on at least one policy: Nintendo will be releasing ToP-GBA in US (March 6, '06) and Europe (March 31, '06)!

(If you've been itching to resend all those annoying "Please translate this or let somebody else translate it!" letters to Namco, now's the time to do it, especially in regards to ND2. While ToD2j still has almost all the same obstacles it ever had, ND2 is suddenly a possibility. Send the ND2-related to Nintendo too. Remember to thank them both for ToP too, for politeness's sake. >_>)

ToA page on this site was updated a few days ago, but I forgot to announce it. >_> Go there for character profile's, art, and screenshots.

Go here to see the lovely ToL US box art.

2005:10:30 - ToA Characters and box art

~Update by Cless Aileron

First off, I'd just like to start off by showing the box art for Tales of the Abyss.

Next up, we have three more characters revealed, two of which have been previously revealed in the first commercial. Guy Cecil and Natalia Luzu Kimuelasca Lanvaldear were the two previously seen in the commercial, while Van Grantz, an NPC, is another character that was revealed.

Guy Cecil is a servant of the Fabre house and a close friend of Luke. He is also a swordsman in battle. Natalia is a princess of the Kimraska Kingdom and is Luke's fiancee. In battle, she is an archer. Van Grantz is Luke's teacher and the leader of the Oracle Knights (Lorelei Church's knights). Also, he is Tear's older brother.
2005:10:16 - ToA Theme Song

~Update by Cless Aileron

The theme song for Tales of the Abyss has been revealed. The song is called "Karma" and is done by the band "Bump of Chicken". Also something to note, this is the first time in a long time since Tales of Destiny that the theme song was done by a male vocalist.

There's also a commercial out and two extra characters have been shown but nothing else is known about them at this time. You can view it yourself to see what they (partly) look like. We will report when these characters have been (officially) revealed.
2005:10:07 - ToA battle info

~Update by Cyllya

More battle info (and screenshots) has been added to the page for Tales of the Abyss. There's a nice promo movie here, which is similar to the original trailer but with some added stuff. :3

The ToA page also now includes a not-quite-complete chart of the game's made-up language for those interested. (Expect a similar update for ToL soon.)

The rumor mill says there's going to be a Tales game for DS announced soon. A while back, Namco trademarked the name "Tales of the Voice" in Japan. Connection? We'l have to wait and see.
2005:09:27 - Gasp and Shock and Funny Names

~Update by Cyllya

The big news: Ubisoft is bringing ToE-PSP to Europe! I guess Namco will let other companies publish their games in Europe since Namco Europe only covers arcade. ^o^; Gotta pick up the slack, Namco Hometek.

Anyway, Europe means English, and the PSP is region-free (for games), so all you North Americans who want ToE-PSP can just import it easily. ^_^ No word yet on whether they will be using NH's translation of the PSX version or making a new one from scratch.

Anyway, there's a new ToM game! Tales of Commons, featuring main characters Alvin, Sephina, and a dragony thing named something like Zilphixy. It will be available in the usual ToM method starting some time in October. Character design and illustration is by a new person named 椎名優 (don't know romanized version). The theme song is "Kiseki" sun by Uemura Kana (植村花菜). You can find story info and pictures on the ToM page.

(Speaking of the ToM page, I fixed the ToT character pictures and added info on ToB Battle Arena and Klondike that I forgot before. >_>)

2005:09:23 - Anniversary Special DVD

~Updated by Cless Aileron

Doing a small news update for today.

For preordering Tales of the Abyss, you will get a special "Tales of Fandom Gaiden DVD." Not only will it contain a radio drama and artwork for Tales of the Abyss, but it will also contain an artwork gallery for every Tales game.

If you haven't seen it yet, head here for a video footage of the game in action from Tokyo Game Show 2005.

2005:09:08 - Flexability

ToA:
ToA's Japanese release date is December 15, 2005, right on time.
2005:09:05 - Update, yayness

~Updated by Cyllya

Tales of the Abyss page has
Tales Channel says there will be some huge announcement about ToA tomorrow (probably release date or theme song?) so I'll let you know then.
2005:8:02 - Tales of the What?!

Tales of the Abyss official site is up, and this site has been updated accordingly. (It was actually updated yesterday, but I didn't have a chance to say so. ;_;)

2005:7:28 - Tales of the What?!

~Updated by Cyllya

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I really did not mean to disappear and dump all the work on poor CA. I've been stressed/busy/distracted, but even as far as this site is concerned, my absence has not been a total waste (see updates below).

The big news:
Tales of the Abyss! That old registered name will actually be a game for PS2. Info is limited; but here are some pictures: Guy, Girl. (I'd like to give credit to whoever scanned those, but they've been tossed over a dozen news sites already and I don't know who had them first.)

Site Updates: The fan art section will be getting a much needed update soon. If you have submitted a fan art and it's not on the current fan art page, that means it got lost somewhere, so you should send it again. (cyllya @ mad.scientist.com ... Remember to have a nice obvious subject line so I know you're not sending me porn or something.)

2005:7:20 - Diaries and battles.

~Updated by Cless Aileron

More battle features have been revealed. Different symbols will appear over the enemies during battle. If an exclamation point appears over an enemy, that enemy is preparing to use a extremely powerful attack, giving you a chance to prepare for that attack. Also, a clock shaped symbol will appear over party members and enemies when using a tech, telling how long it will take to use the attack (they will use the attack when the symbol is completely yellow). Also, some enemies will have a red ring indication to notify they have a Field of Effect around them, where, like in Tales of Destiny 2, entering that area will cause a status aliment on the character.

Outside of battle, there will be bubbles in dungeons and on the world map which will indicate tougher enemies are lurking in those areas as well as a higher encounter rate. Also, warp points on the world map known as "Ducts" will enable you to travel to other Ducts for easy traveling.

The Synopsis feature went through some changes. These Synopsis will be in the form of diaries. Different characters will write about what happened in their own point of view.

2005:7:5 - Wonder Chef is now Wonder Bre...err...Pan.

~Updated by Cless Aileron

The Wonder Chef returns...in a different form. This chef is a girl by the name "Mimmy Bread" and is referred to as "Wonder Pan" and you'll be cooking different types of bread recipes learn from the Wonder Pan. In previous Tales games, you were able to cook anyone as long as you had the right ingredients. Not in Tales of Legendia. You are limited to baking only in the bakery and this is the only way to acquire bread.

The official Tales of Legendia site on Teichan also updated with some music samples. Check it out. Still no word about who the composer is, though.
