ToS Story Guide v0.5
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why is the game called Tales of Symphonia?
A: "Tales of _____ia" is a series tradition. For those of you who don't
know how to use a dictionary, a symphony is something characterized by
a harmonious combination of elements (especially music, which has
different parts but comes together at the end). The game's makers were
making a metaphor comparing the two worlds with a symphony. Symphonia
is Latin for symphony too.
Q: Who are the Four Seraphim?
A: Mithos, Kratos, Yuan, and Martel.
Q: What did Lloyd name the Tree?
A: Yggdrasill. It's supposed to be an allusion to Tales of Phantasia
(same tree), but if you haven't played ToP, you can make up for it by
considering it to be an allusion to Norse mythology. The full name in
ToP is Sekaijuu Yggdrasill, Sekaijuu meaning "World Tree." (As Kharlan,
it was Taijuu, "Giant Tree." It never gets called Sekaijuu Kharlan or
Taiju Yggdrasill for some reason.)
Q: How did Lloyd get wings?
A: He had a Cruxis Crystal. If you're confused, try adding up these
points up:
*A Cruxis Crystal is just a higher evolution of an
exsphere.
*Lloyd has an exsphere.
*That exsphere was intended to be a Cruxis Crystal.
*Lloyd's exsphere continues to evolve throughout the
game.
*Cruxis Crystals give a person wings.
Q: How old are the characters?
A: Lloyd : 17
Colette: 16
Genis : 12
Raine : 23
Kratos : 28 bodily (roughly 4028 actually)
Sheena : 19
Zelos : 22
Presea : 12 bodily (28 actually)
Regal : 35
Mithos : 14 bodily (roughly 4014 actually)
Q: How do the characters use magic?
A: Lloyd, Regal, Presea, Sheena, and Colette do not actually use magic.
Regal heals with ki/chi/qi. Colette uses angel skills, which are not
magic either. Sheena uses summoning and something called ofuda, which
is charms written on slips of paper or carved into small pieces of
wood. Kratos and Zelos injested aionis to use magic, and their Cruxis
Crystals allow Angel skills. Raine and Genis can use magic because they
are half-elves.
Q: What does the reunited world look like?
A: This game's world maps were based on Tales of Phantasia's. See the
map comparisons here: http://talesof.cyllya.com/ps-plot/main01.html
Q: What detirmines the color of exspheres and Cruxis Crystals?
A: It seems to be random.
Q: What's that evil laugh as Lloyd and Genis are leaving Martel Temple?
A: That's Raine in ruin mode.
Q: Is there be a sequel? Will there be one?
A: Tales of Phantasia (and its sequels Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri
Dungeon and Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage) is set after ToS.
There are also novels and audio dramas based on the game, and some of
these are technically sequels. There are also other games in the series
which are indirect sequels (meaning they're not plot related).
Q: Is Tales of Symphonia a prequel to Tales of Phantasia?
A: Some people try to argue this, but the creators confirmed multiple
times that this is true. Unfortunately, they haven't said anything on
the story points on which ToP and ToS seem to contridict each other.
Even if you don't want to think of ToS as a prequel, you
have to acknowledge that ToS was largely based on ToP, with all of
ToP's world and story rules used in ToS. This means that there are a
few points for which ToP is needed to clarify ToS's story.
Basically, the main point of Tales of Symphonia's entire
plot was to explain the name of the tree.

ENDING DIALOGUE
Martel: I am Martel and also the incarnation of the Great Seed itself.
Lloyd, your hope, as well as those of many others, ressurected me.
Lloyd: So you're Mithos's sister?
Martel: No, Mithos's sister Martel is only one of the many souls within
me. I am mana and I am the Giant Tree. I am the symbol of the many
lives sacrificed to the Great Seed. I am a new spirit, born to
accompany the Giant Tree. And now the Seed has awakened anew, along
with me.
[tree grows up]
Lloyd: This is the Giant Kharlan Tree?
Colette: It's... so beautiful! And so grand!
Martel: This is the future form of the Giant Tree, but right now, it is
only a small seedling. In its current state, the Tree will whither and
die.
Lloyd: Well, then how do we protect it?
Martel: You must provide the Tree with love and adoration. As long as
those conditions are met, I shall always protect the seedling.
Lloyd: I promise, if the Tree ever starts to whither, I'll make sure...
we won't let it die!
Martel: Then, Lloyd, on behalf of all living things, I want you to give
this tree a new name as a proof of the pact.
Lloyd: What?
Martel: The Giant Kharlan Tree was planted here by the elves when they
first came as a guardian to watch over and protect them. This newly
reborn tree protects elves, humans, and the lives of all those who are
caught in between. Therefore, this tree requires a new name.
Colette: Lloyd, pick a name for us, a name for everyone's tree.
Lloyd: So this tree is the link that connects the world.... Okay! I got
it! This tree's name is...!
ABYSSION
The last surviving member of a family of
demon hunters. His ancestor killed Nebilim, which cursed his family. It
is somewhat open to interpretation as to whether he was
a. actually Nebilim in disguise the whole time
b. possessed by Nebilim the whole time
c. a foolish man who wanted to revive Nebilim and was tricking
the characters into helping him
d. an honest man who asked for your help with the intention of
things happening exactly as he said they would but was possessed by
Nebilim as soon as all the weapons were near him or when he opened the
Necronomicon.
In battle, Abyssion can inexplicably use magic and angel skills. Since
it never explicably states that he's a human, he may be able to use
magic because he's a half-elf, or it may be that Nebilim can use magic
from being some demonic entity. As for the angel skills, he does have a
suspicious-looking stone stuck in his chest. Alternately, both skills
may come from the weapons absorbing Genis and Colette's powers while
being carried around by the party, or they may come from the story
writers getting lazy because it's a sidequest boss.
[SQ Abyssion]
ADAMANTITE
Scrap diamond that is transformed into a
special state by strengthening its atomic structure. It's a product of
magitechnology which is widely used by dwarves for sharpening tools.
The Imperial Research Academy has a machine said to have been used to
refine adamantite during the Ancient War. Kratos repaired the machine
in order to have Amamantite to use in the creation of the Eternal Ring.
[SQ Kratos's Mission]
AEROS
A flying creature. Second evolution of a
Protozoan.
[SQ Noishe]
AGE OF HALF-ELVES
More or less the same as the Age of
Lifeless Beings, but it's what the Desians call it, and they seem to
have a different idea of what it is. They figure Mithos will take care
of them and leave everyone else to die (see note below).
(In the Japanese version, this was called Sennen Oukoku, "Millennial
Reign," which is mentioned in Christianity [Revelations 20] as the era
in which Jesus and his followers will rule the world in peace; Satan
will be bound and all the sinners will be dumped into a lake of fire.)
AGE OF LIFELESS BEINGS
The "grand age" Mithos strives for. His
plan to make everyone in the world into Lifeless Beings (i.e. angels).
In his eyes, being a lifeless being negates a person's race, so the
idea behind the Age of Lifeless Beings is that, if everyone in the
world were the same race, there would not be discrimination. Making
everyone into Lifeless Beings would require many, many exspheres, which
is why the Desians operate human ranches. Desians and Cruxis both exist
for this purpose.
Don't forget that the state of emotionlessness is not part of
the definition of being a lifeless being. The game says absolutely
nothing to suggest that Mithos intended for everyone to be like that
during his grand age.
{SYN "The Sword and Angel"}
AIONIS
Supposedly a material that Mithos the
Hero received from the Goddess Martel, used to make equipment for the
gods. If it's ingested, it can give a human the power to use magic. A
ring that would allow a human to use the Eternal Sword requires Aionis.
Knowing this, Kratos spends some time questing across Tethe'alla for
it, but it turns out that it can only be mined on Derris-Kharlan. He
conspires with Zelos for a way to retrieve some.
[SQ Kratos's Mission]
ALICIA COMBATIR
Regal's employee and girlfriend(?),
Presea's younger sister. After Presea became emotionless due to her
exsphere, Alicia moved to Altamira to continue her life. Eight years
ago, she was captured by Vharley used in the Angelus Project because
she was biologically related to Presea, one of the only successful
expiraments. She was unsuccessful and was turned into a monster. Regal
was forced to kill her.
Her age is unknown, other than that she was younger than 20 when she
died and would be younger than 28 if she was alive during the game.
ALTESSA
Once a member of Cruxis, he was an
artisan who manufactured Cruxis Crystals and Exspheres for use as
weapons. He fled and took refuge in Ozette after seeing the suffering
caused by his work. However, he was found by Rodyle and was ordered to
work on experiments. If he had not assisted in the experiment on Presea
(by making her special Key Crest), he would have been killed. Back when
he worked for Cruxis, he created Tabatha as a vessel for Martel, but
she didn't work for that purpose.
He feels very guilty about hurting Presea, especially since she doesn't
want to forgive him. He eventually jumps in front of her to defend her
from Mithos's attack. He's badly injured for the rest of the game.
{SYN "Unforgiveable Crime", FIG 41, FIG 42}
ANCIENT WAR
The Great Kharlan War. It was a huge war
between the two countries called Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. One book
says it started 5000 years ago and went on for 1000 years, but that
could be distortion of history (see: Mithos Yggdrasill). Either way, it
ended roughly 4000 years ago, when Mithos made the rulers of the
countries sign a treaty at the Holy Ground of Kharlan, and he then
split the two countries into two interlocked planets using the power of
the Eternal Sword. During the war, the two sides used weapons of
magitechology, and all that consumption of mana caused the Giant
Kharlan Tree to wither away. Martel(2) was killed trying to protect the
Great Seed.
Because both worlds claim to possess the objects used during the
signing of the treaty and because it seems odd that Mithos would still
split the world after the war was ended, it seems quite likely that the
treaty-related materials were faked by Cruxis.
The story does not state Sylvarant and Tethe'alla's reasons for
fighting. A lot of people come to the conclusion that they were
fighting for race-based reasons, but I don't think so, seeing as
neither world seems to represent a particular race more than the other.
{SYN "The Kharlan War"}
ANGEL LANGUAGE
The foundation of the modern language.
Colette, Kratos, and members of the church are fluent in it, Raine
knows some, Genis wants to learn.
(What's up with this language? Did Cruxis make it up? It's not elvish,
but it apparently looks similar enough to mistake it at first glance.)
ANGEL TOXICOSIS***
Raine's name for Chronic Angelus
Crystallus Inofficium?
ANGELUS EXSPHERE
Lloyd's exsphere, cultivated in Anna's
body as part of the Angelus Project. Kvar had intended to give this
special exsphere to Yggdrasill as a gift, but when Anna escaped, she
took it with her. Normally, Exspheres are supposed to stop evolving
once they leave the host body, but apparently due to the years of
research Kvar put into it, Lloyd's exsphere continues to evolve. By the
end of the game, it has become as strong as, or stronger than, any
Cruxis Crystal (and basically IS a Cruxis Crystal). This is how Lloyd
was able to grow wings at the end (though Mithos's Cruxis Crystal may
have helped trigger the wings).
{SYN "Feeding on Life"}
ANGELUS PROJECT***
The project for the creation of Cruxis
Crystals. Making a Cruxis Crystal is the same as making an exsphere,
but a Key Crest made out of a special ore which has the opposite effect
of Inhibitor Ore is (sometimes?) used because it will slow down the
parasitic process of the exsphere long enough for it to evolve into a
Cruxis Crystal. Presea, Alicia, and Anna were all experiments in the
project, though it's possible that all human ranch prisoners could be
considered. Failing experiments turn into an exbelua.
{SYN "Feeding on Life"}
ANNA
Lloyd's mother. She was born in Luin, but
she became an experiment of Kvar's Angelus Project. She eventually met
Kratos and escaped from the Desians. (It's unclear which happened
first. Like Presea, she may have been allowed to roam free most of the
time.) She and Kratos were pursued by Cruxis. They traveled from place
to place with Noishe, as well as with Lloyd once he was born, but Kvar
finally caught them. Anna's exsphere was removed, and because she
lacked a Key Crest, she turned into a monster (exbelua). Unable to
control herself as a monster, Anna tried to devour Lloyd. Noishe
protected Lloyd, causing both himself and Anna to be injured. Anna
regained control of herself temporarily and begged Kratos to kill her.
When she was about to attack Lloyd, he did as she asked.
When Kvar attacked, Lloyd, Noishe, and the Exsphere fell off the cliff,
but although she wasn't mentioned as falling, Anna must have fallen too
for Dirk to have found her. She was still alive and was able to explain
some of what happened to Dirk. Even though she's a monster, she should
still have been able to speak like Marble and Alicia.
While she was alive, Anna gave Kratos inspiration for working against
Mithos.

AQUAN
An aquatic creacture. First evolution of

ARSHIS
A land-going creacture. Third evolution
of a Protozoan. This is what Noishe is.
(A translator was having a bad day. It's supposed to be Earthis.)

ASKA
The Spirit of Light, along with Luna. He
travels freely, unlike the other spirits, because he does not act as a
Mana Link. He can be called by the music made by Linkite Nuts.
{SYN "The Shining Bird", SYN "The Linkite Flute"}
BACURA
Naploosa Bacura, made by great Proffessor
Bacura. Device made of concentrated mana in a central form. Normal
attacks cannot harm it. (It's a cameo from Namco's Xevius.)
BLUE CANDLE
Its blue flame can illuminate any
darkness and was needed to enter the Temple of Darkness safely. It was
made by the Elemental Reseach Laboratory. The half-elves who work there
refuse to give it to Lloyd's group because it was their fault that Kate
was arrested. (It's a cameo from Namco's Druaga series.)
BOLTZMAN
A man who created the Boltzman healing
technique. He passed away before completing the education process.
BOLTZMAN TECHNIQUE
The healing technique based on the belief
that people have another energy within their bodies besides mana which
can be used for healing. Master Boltzman passed away before he could
teach the technique to others, so scholars are still trying to fill in
the blanks. The technique requires a Mana Leaf herb and/or a unicorn's
horn as a catalyst.
{SKIT 334}
BOOK OF REGENERATION
The record of Spiritua's journey. It has
the location of every seal and is written in Angel language. It was
given to the royal family of Palmacosta. During the game, the fake
Chosen group took posession of it and sold it to Koton.
{SYN "The Book"}
BREAKER

The spirit of Ice. Does not like Efreet
because the two of them are harmful to each other.
CELSIUS'S TEAR
A famous ice flower in Flanoir which has
the power to freeze anything. It's so cold that it will burn to touch
it.
CHRONIC ANGELUS CRYSTALLUS INOFFICIUM
Illness that causes the body to become a cruxis crystal. Rejection to
Cruxis Crystal said to occur in one of everyone million people.
(Suggesting there have been at least two million angels?) Epidermal
crystallization begins within a few months, and then the rest of the
body will cystalize, and the subject will die. With the Boltzman
technique, a mana fragment and zircon are used to create a Rune Crest.
Fibres from the Mana Leaf Herb protect against the crsyallization
caused by the illness. Attach the Rune Crest to Key Crest. One of
Mithos's companions (Martel(2)) suffered from this desease.
{SYN "The Archives", SYN "Hero's Tracks", SYN "Ray of Hope"}
CHOSEN ONE
A member of the Mana Lineage who is
assigned a Cruxis Crystal at birth and equipped with it by the Oracle
if he or she will be going on the Journey of World Regeneration. The
only GARUNTEED duty of a Chosen is to get married to whomever the
Oracle says and give birth to the next person who will be the Chosen. A
Chosen will be picked to go on the Journey of World Regeneration if his
or her world has been in decline for enough time. After that, a Chosen
will be taken to Welgaia to become a potential vessel for Martel.
(There can be male Chosens, but he presumeably wouldn't be tried as a
vessel. He may not even be used for Regeneration.)
The last Chosen who did the journey was from Tethe'alla, and this was
800 years ago. In Tethe'alla the rank of Chosen is just below that of
the royal family, and members of the Mana Lineage live around the world
so that they won't all die if a natural disaster strikes. Fewer details
are given about the rank of Chosen in Sylvarant, but it's assumed to be
mostly similar.
One fan theory (not a terribly popular one) suggests that the beginning
of the mana lineages may be Mithos's offspring.
CHOSEN'S ORB
Zelos's Cruxis Crystal
CHURCH OF MARTEL
Worships the (fake) Goddess Martel.
CLAY IDOL
Gnomelette (Japanese version)
CLEO III
King of Balacruf.
COLETTE BRUNEL
The current Chosen of Sylvarant.
Character: She's very kind and selfless, occassionally
silly and clumsy. She prays for the safety of Sylvarant every night,
believes firmly in the Goddess(1), and has an amazing talent that
allows her to trip over nothing in just the right way at just the right
time to miraculously save the day during dangerous situations. She is
very self-conscious and hates being different. She is quick to take
responsibility and puts others above herself. She is brave and is quick
to do what she believes is right, but she is not very self-confident
and can be slow to decide what the right action is. Her ditziness is
such that it can lower the intelligence of those around her.
Family: Her Father is Frank, and her grandmother is
Phaidra, a member of the church. Her mother is never mentioned,
although she was probably a member of the Mana Lineage (as opposed to
Frank). It's rumored that an angel, not Frank, is really her father,
but this is false.
Background Story: Because she is a Chosen, the other
children of her village avoided association with her. No one would be
her friend, and she was afraid to be too friendly because she knew she
was going to die young. She did not consider herself a human and
assumed that that was why she had to live is such isolation. When Lloyd
came to the village, he became her first friend, and therefore he's
very important to her. She typically trusts all decisions to him. She
doesn't like others to know when she's upset, so she will pretend to be
cheerful even though she rarely is.
During the game: When she she receives the Cruxis Oracle
from Remiel, she sets out on her Journey of World Regeneration. She
starts to believe, at least partially, that Remiel is her father like
the rumors suggest. She tricks Lloyd and Genis so that they won't come
along and be in danger, but they finally join up with her. At the first
Seal, she gains her wings and is concerned about being weird, but Lloyd
comforts her. She also stops feeling the need to eat. At the second
Seal, she no longer has the ability to sleep even when tired. At the
third seal, she loses her sense of touch (ability to feel pain or
temperature). At the fourth seal, she loses her voice. She wants her
friends to have fun on this journey, so she tries to hide these
problems from them and is very upset when Lloyd finds out. Over the
course of the journey, she grows closer to her friends, has fun, and
starts to feel fear of death, which she never felt before because she
did not have a good reason to want to be alive.
She is very empathetic, which allows her to realize that Sheena is a
nice person. She fought Sheena with kindness, the best weapon against a
good person doing an evil act.
Her top priority is the immediate safety of the people of Sylvarant.
She originally intends to befriend Sheena, but she says that she'd be
willing to fight her new friend and make Tethe'alla suffer if Sheena
tried to interfere with her mission to regenerate Sylvarant.
She was originally willing to die for the purpose of reviving Sylvarant
and Martel but Lloyd convinced her to find another way. However, she
continues to hide her problems, including the fact that her body is
crystalizind due to the Chronic Angelus Crystallus Inofficium. When
they find out, she feels ashamed for being different.
When the Giant Kharlan Tree damages Sylvarant and the Tower of
Salvation disappears, the people of Sylvarant consider her World
Regeneration Journey a failure, and they all blame her harshly. She
carries the guilt until the end of the game when the world is finally
saved.
Miscellaneus Facts: She likes fruit and hates green
peppers. She likes animals and is more likely to find something cute
than most other people.

CRUXIS
They are believed to be the organization
of heaven, but they are actually an organization made up almost
entirely of half-elves who continue the World Prolongation Project and
who are trying to use the Chosen as a vessel to revive Martel. Desians
are a lesser organizaton within Cruxis.
They are led by the Four Seraphim (specifically Yggdrasill).
CRUXIS CRYSTAL
An evolved form of an exsphere, which
allows a person to become an angel or Lifeless Being.
I would've liked more details on CCs
(and a lot of other stuff in ToS), but they didn't sound that vague to
me. Exspheres in general are parasitic inorganic lifeforms whose
parasitic infections cause the mana in the host body to become out of
control, which can cause them to mutate into monsters. It can also
cause them to become emotionally subdued. Key Crests (inhibitor ore
with charm carved on it in angel language) are made to control the
exsphere, but other kinds of Key Crests can make the problems worse if
they're delaying the parasitic process for the purpose of forcing the
exsphere to evolve into a CC.
The ritual of releasing the seals is
for the purpose promoting the Chosen's fusion with the Cruxis Crystal.
Exspheres in general evolve in response to the host body's fear,
suffering, and combat instincts but normally don't evolve if the host
is protected by a proper Key Crest. The stronger (more evolved) the
Exsphere/CC is, the greater effect it has on strengthing the host body.
Fresh Exspheres right out of the ground aren't useful.
Cruxis Crystals make a person
inorganic (angel), so they lose a lot of their normal organic
functions. (Eating, drinking, digesting, sleeping, and feeling pain and
temperature were the examples explicitly given.)
About one in a million people suffer
from the nasty side effect called CACI (I ain't writing that whole
thing out) which basically causes the entire body to turn into a giant
exsphere. Yet another kind of Key Crest fixes that.
DARK CHEF
An assassin of the Dark Chef Alliance,
which struggles against the Wonder Chef Clan to gain the ultimate
recipe. He is the Wonder Chef's destined rival.
{SQ Chef}
DAY OF PROPHESY
Day in which the Chosen of Mana will
receive an oracle from the Goddess Martel (or rather, some Cruxis
flunky like Remiel).
DEMON SEED
A dormant exsphere that's placed in a
host body? This term is only used once, when a Desian is talking to
Dorr about Clara. It's possible they made this term up just to talk to
Dorr and other people who don't understand that much about Exspheres.
DERRIS EMBLEM
The Derris Emblem trap on Derris-Kharlan
is powered by Mithos's inner darkness (feelings of being cowardly,
neglected, and judged).
DERRIS-KHARLAN
The original homeland of the elves,
currently Cruxis's base. It is a planet (also said to be a comet) made
from a giant mass of mana. Since the Kharlan War, it was suspended in
the sky above the planets due to the protective barriar projected by
the Tower of Salvation.
Before the Kharlan War, it used to have a 100-year orbit and once
during each 100 years, bring a blessing of mana to the
Sylvarant/Tethe'alla planet.
DESIANS
A subordinate organization within Cruxis,
composed of half-elves who believe in Yggdrasill's plan for the Age of
Half-Elves. They are led by the Five Grand Cardinals and run the human
ranches.
DEVIL'S ARMS

#4: Don't depend on others. Walk on your own two legs.
#7: Goodness and love always win.
#18: It's better to be deceived than to deceive.

Abriviation for Elemental Cargo
EFREET
Spirit of Fire. He resides in a ruin of a

ELECAR
Abriviation for Elemental Cargo (Japanese

ELEMENTAL CARGO
Commonly called EC, it is a compact
transport vehicle controlled by exspheres. Its maximum load weight is
more than 1400kg. Maximum speed is more than three times an upgraded
Exsphere-equipped carriage. Primarily used by shipping companies for
delivery service. It absorbs mana into the atmosphere and injects it
into the air, producing a counter-reaction that propels it forward.
It's supposed to be a land vehicle.
ELEMENTAL RESEARCH LABORATORY
Laboratory in Meltokio where summoning is
researched. Where Corrine was born and where Sheena learned to summon.
ETERNAL RING***
The ring that allows a human to use the
Eternal Sword. (Specifically, it allowed Lloyd to convert the Eternal
Sword into the Flamberge and Vorpal Sword.) Making it requires Aionis,
as well as Sacred Wood to melt the Aionis and Adamantite to polish it.
ETERNAL SWORD***
Magic sword created from the power of
Origin, given to Mithos when he formed a pact with Origin. It's power
is capable of controling time and space. Yggdrasil was able to split
the world in two by using its power. Without it Yggdrasil's power would
diminish, and Welgaia would surely face its doom.
EXBELUA
The people who turn into monsters due to
exspheres.
(Specifically, Marble.)
EXIRE
A village floating in the skies of
Tethe'alla. Mithos formed a pact with with Maxwell to keep the city
floating so that it could be a haven for oppressed half-elves. The
people who currently live there consider that story a legend and don't
know about Maxwell. It's apparently possible for villagers to go and
leave, but it's not said how. (The Rheaird images on the the entrance
points suggest that was their original way in and out of the village,
but whether or not they still use Rheairds is questionable.) It's where
Virginia lives.
{SQ Virginia, SQ Maxwell}
EXSPHERE
A lifeless being (meaning they are alive,
but not the same way people/animals are). They are originally dormant,
but placing them in a host body causes it to feed off the host body's
life. When the host dies, the exsphere is useable. By attaching one
directly onto the skin, a person can increase his or her natural
abilities. Without a Key Crest, the exsphere poisons the body, and it's
possible for the mana within the body to run out of control and turn
the wearer into an exbelua monster. Exspheres are also used in machines.

ditziness, but he actually respects Lloyd a lot. He is very
self-conscious (ashamed?) about being a half-elf, and he and his sister
both pretend to be elves. He hates both elves and humans for rejecting
him, but he tries not to act hateful against them.
Family: He was raised by his sister Raine and really
respects her. He does not seem to feel the same connection with their
parents (Kroitz and Virginia) as she does.
Background Story: Not long after he was born, he and
Raine were sent to Sylvarant via the Otherworldly Gate. After he and
his sister moved to Iselia, Genis befriended Lloyd, who is the biggest
reason he does not mistreat humans on principle. He and Raine still
have a fear of humans, and they often went to Lloyd's house to get a
clear view for studying the positions of the stars so that they'd be
able to navigate by them if they were ever chased out of Iselia.
During the game: He secretly befriends an elderly human
woman named Marble who is a prisoner at the Iselia Human Ranch. He is
very upset when she dies and keeps her exsphere. When he and Raine are
revealed to be half-elves in Sybak, he is worried their friends will
abandon them and is surprised that they still care about him. He is
thrilled to have another half-elf friend when he meets Mithos. He
discovers Mithos and Yggdrasill are the same person when Yggdrasill
saves him from Pronyma and drops Mithos's flute. He tries to convince
himself it's not true and avoids telling the others. He greatly
sympathizes with Mithos and repeatedly has to use his memories of
Marble and Presea to remember that he believes what Mithos is doing is
wrong. By the end of the game, he still has an inner hatred for humans
but is on his way to overcoming it. He and Raine go on a mission to
make the world more willing to accept half-elves.
Miscellaneus Facts: He's very good at cooking, but
carrots are his least favorite food.
GIANT KHARLAN TREE
"Legendary" tree said to have existed in
the Holy Ground of Kharlan. When the elves came to this planet, they
planted this tree to watch over and protect them. It's the Tree of Life
which produces great amounts of mana. The Kharlan War exhausted its
mana supply and caused the tree to wilt away. All that remained was the
Great Seed in the Holy Ground of Kharlan.

- A (presumeably real) goddess whom many of the characters,

(Note that this second definition was simply "god", gender unspecified,

a. who is speaking, b. whether it's before or after the big plot twist,
and c. whether Martel's name is actually used or not.)

GREAT SEED
Legend says it's the soul of Mithos the
hero, but it's actually the source of all mana and the seed of the
Giant Tree. If the seed germinates, the Giant Tree will be restored. If
Martel is revived, the Great Seed will be absorbed into her and
disappear; if the Great Seed is revived, Martel will be absorbed into
it and disappear. Yggdrasill prevents her soul from disappearing by
protecting the seed with the seals of the Summon Spirits.
The Great Seed is in a state of flux between the worlds, in addition to
holding the worlds together with Mana Links, the Summon Spirits also
stabilize the Seed. After the Mana Links were broken, the Seed lost
stability and went out of control in Sylvarant.

KRATOS AURION***
He is one of the Four Serephim who ended
the Ancient War.
Character: He's strong and pragmatic and isn't very
expressive about his emotions. During the game, Kratos learns (via
Lloyd) not to merely rely on someone else and go along with their
ideals. Prior to this, he typically went along with Mithos or sometimes
Anna.
Family: Background Story: He is implied to
have been a knight 4000 years ago. Mithos was his friend and
apprentice. While traveling with Mithos, he met an injured protozoan,
Noishe, who became his friend.
Kratos believed in Mithos for a long time because Mithos was desperate
to save the world and was always full of hope no matter how much he was
oppressed. In order to protect his ownership of the Eternal Sword,
Mithos made Kratos into Origin's seal, apparently due to how much he
trusted Kratos. However, when Kratos learned of Mithos's plan to create
an Age of Lifeless Beings, he turned against him and went to Sylvarant
(with Noishe). After meeting Anna, an expirament in the Angelus
Project, he realized his mistake in believing that accepting Mithos's
plan would be the fastest route to reunite the worlds, so he began to
search for a way for a human to use the Eternal Sword.
However, he and Anna were pursued by Cruxis. They traveled from place
to place, along with Lloyd after he was born. Kvar finally caught them,
and Anna was turned into a monster. Noishe prevented monster Anna from
harming Lloyd and allowed her to regain control of herself long enough
to beg Kratos to kill her. When she was about to harm Lloyd again,
Kratos killed her. During the battle, Noishe, Lloyd, and Anna fell off
the cliff. After disposing of Kvar and his men, Kratos descended the
cliff, but all he found were Desian corpses that were half-eaten by
monsters. He assumed that Anna, Lloyd, and Noishe were dead.
Devastated by the loss of his family, Kratos returned to Cruxis, even
though he was opposed to what Mithos was doing, because everything felt
meaningless to him. Mithos accepted him back, and the story doesn't
mention Mithos's feelings through all this. Remember that he HAD to
accept Kratos back whether he wanted to or not because killing him (or
neglecting him, which could allow him to be killled) would destroy
Origin's seal.
During the game: Once again working for Cruxis, Kratos
went to Sylvarant to pose as a mercenary in order to protect Colette,
the Chosen. He began to suspect that Lloyd was his son the instant he
heard Lloyd's name, but he wasn't certain until he saw Anna's
gravestone at Dirk's house. While traveling on the World Regeneration
Journey with Colette and her friends, he comes to respect Lloyd's
ability to acknowledge his own mistakes, because that takes more
courage than he or Mithos had.
He and Lloyd finally get revenge on Kvar for Anna's death. It was
probably by or before this point that Kratos had finally decided to go
against Cruxis again, but he had definately decided by the time Yuan
tries to kill him in Hima. (A note about that: He did not see Yuan
clearly enough to be certain that it was Yuan trying to kill him. Since
Yuan is supposed to be an ally at this point, it's only logical for him
to assume it was not Yuan.) He pretends to betray the group when they
reach the Tower of Salvation, possibly not expecting Mithos to arrive
then.
Afterward, Kratos continues his quest to find a way for humans to use
the Eternal Sword. Tethe'alla's Imperial Research Academy had an old
machine that was used to refine Adamantite during the Ancient War;
Kratos fixed the machine, creating a fuss in the academy and making
several students believe he's an elite of the academy. He searches for
Sacred Wood in Ozette (destroyed by Mithos) but eventually gets the
last of it from where Presea delivered it in Meltokio. He searches all
over for Aionis, even the elven village, but it's only available on
Derris-Kharlan, so he asks Zelos to help retrive it.
Knowing Colette will need a Rune Crest for her Chronic Angelus
Crystallus Inofficium, he secretly helps the group by giving them hints
and begging the elf elder to help them out with a mana leaf herb, as
well as by "capturing" them to take them to Welgaia where he tells an
angel goon to give them a Mana Fragment.
Once all the materials for the Eternal Ring are prepared, he tries to
get Lloyd to kill him to release the seal over Origin. When Lloyd
refuses, he tries releasing the seal himself (which would normally kill
him because of the mana he loses) and is upset that Yuan saves him by
giving him mana. Lloyd has to convince him not to want to die. Kratos
never states while he is so detirmined to die, but theories provided by
the characters are that he is tired of living or that he wants to atone
for his past.
At the end of the game he chooses to go to Derris-Kharlan with the
half-elves of Cruxis (i.e. any angels and possibly some left over
Desians).
Miscellaneus Facts: Somehow people get it in their heads
that Kratos is a half-elf, but the game never says that. On the other
hand it says several times that he is a human. Some examples include:
- Kratos says it himself while taunting half-dead Remiel
- Forcystus says it when he realizes who Kratos is.
- If Kratos had any elven blood, his offspring would as well, but
Lloyd is also proven many times to be 100% human. Two noteworthy pieces
of proof about Lloyd's race are.
- He lacks the right to use the Eternal Sword without the
Eternal Ring
- When the papal knights do a blood test on the party when
arresting them in Sybak, they don't recognize Lloyd being a half-elf
- Kratos has to use Aionis to use magic, which would not be
necessary for someone with elven blood
Kratos doesn't like tomatoes.
KUCHINAWA
LEGEND OF WORLD REGENERATION***
"Once upon a time, there existed a giant
tree that was the source of mana. A war, however, caused this tree to
whither away, and a hero's life was sacrificed in order to take its
place. Grieving over the loss, the goddess disappeared unto the
heavens. The goddess left the angels with this edict: 'You must wake
me, for if I should sleep, the world shall be destroyed.' The angels
bore the Chosen One, who headed towards the tower that reached unto the
heavens. And that marked the beginning of the regeneration of the
world."

LIFELESS BEING
This term applies to a couple of different
things. A less confusing translation would be "inorganic lifeform."
Anything which has a consciousness like a person (or creature) but
doesn't have an organic body is a Lifeless Being.
- What Mithos calls angels. One is able to obtain eternal life with
a Cruxis Crystal. The Cruxis Crystal makes their body inorganic.
- A description of Exspheres, but this term is never used to refer
to Exspheres.

LINKITE TREE
A tree which went extint long ago. There

making Gnome heal the ground around it, planting an Exsphere shard near
it, and having Raine heal it with the Boltzmann technique.

LUIN
LUNA***
Although Luna serves as the mana link for
the Light Seal, it's important to note that, in Tales of Phantasia,
she's called the Spirit of the Moons. ToP says Luna gets her power from
the moonlight and will be weakened and helpless if she does not have
access to the moonlight. With the way the worlds are split in ToS, only
one moon (the smaller one!) can be seen from Sylvarant, which is
leaving Luna short on power. Aska seems to be suplementing her strength.
MAGIC
Supernatural power with many uses, most
noteably attacking. Only elves, part-elf hybrids, and some supernatural
beings like demons and such can use magic. Colette's angel skills
aren't magic; they're angel skills (tenshi jutsu). Regal's healing
skills aren't magic; they're chi. Raine's healing skills aren't magic;
they're healing arts (chiyujutsu). Summoning (shoukan jutsu) and ofuda
(fujutsu) should not be confusde with magic either. Magic is majutsu.

MANA
An energy within creatures and planets.
It's more important for life than water. Not the name of the spirit at

eat) is affected by mana.
MANA CANNON

MANA FRAGMENT
It's said in the scriptures of the Church
of Martel that "The colossal mana of the great motherland,
Derris-Kharlan, rained down upon the earth in fragments, giving birth
to all living things." The characters travel to Derris-Kharlan to get
one such fragment because it's needed to heal the Chronic Angelus
Crystallus Inofficium.
MANA LEAF HERB
An herb which grows in the Latheon Gorge.
The elven storyteller makes it into tapestries depicting major
historical events. It's needed to heal the Chronic Angelus Crystallus
Inofficium.
MANA LINEAGE
The family line of the Chosen Ones.
Cruxis arranges their marriages.
MANA LINKS
Links between a Summon Spirit's seal and
the seal of its opposite in the other world. The links form a cage
around the Great Seed.
MANA SIGNITURE
It's unclear what this is, but Mithos says
that Colette's mana signiture matches Martel's almost perfectly, as if
that's important for Martel to use Colette as a vessel. A person's mana
signiture is most likely caused by one of the following:
a) genetics (i.e. the reason Cruxis arranges the Chosen Ones' marriages)
b) the person's Cruxis Crystal or how s/he becomes an angel
MARTEL
- A non-existant goddess inspired by the stories of the Ancient
War, worshipped by the followers of the Church of Martel.
- Martel Yggdrasil. Mithos's older sister, Yuan's fianceé, one of
the four people who ended the Great Kharlan War (Four Seraphim). The
rituals of the Chosen were based on her life. She was afflicted with
the Chronic Angelus Crystallus Inofficium (Angel Toxicosis), which
means she did have a Cruxis Crystal and was an angel. She was killed by
an unnamed human traitor who wanted to be in control of mana. Another
account says she sacrificed herself for the Great Seed, so the human
probably killed her because she was trying to protect it. Her soul is
now stored in the Great Seed, and she remains alive thanks to her
Cruxis Crystal.*** Mithos plans to revive her and prevents her soul
from disappearing by protecting the Great Seed with the seals of the
Summon Spirits. Yuan tries to let her finally die, which is what she
would want. It's a bit unclear about how she died. We know that
- she died in such a way that the blame could rest on one
person, saying that person killed her
- the person who killed her was a human and was motivated by
the desire for mana
- she died defending the Great Seed.
That narrows it down a lot.
- A spirit who guides the new Giant Tree. She consists of Tabatha's
body plus the soul of Martel(2), the souls of the many Chosens who were
sacrificed, and the Great Seed. (The Martel at the end is not a
goddess. She is a spirit. She is no more goddess than Undine, Celsius,
or Luna.) And her name isn't Mana. >_>;;;

MITHOS YGGDRASIL
Character: *(an atheist)
tired of living =SKIT 248
Family: Mithos was raised by his older sister, suggesting
that Background Story: He was a swordsman (Kratos's
apprentice), but by the time you see him is magic was stronger than his
sword skills. There's not really anything that implies Mithos won the
war just because he, personally, was particularly skilled at killing
people. (Although he is personally powerful AND still is by the time
you see him in the game.) On the other hand, most of his advantage
seems to be his charisma and leadership skills. He makes other people
do stuff for him. When he lost his followers (because they betrayed him
or were killed), he lost that advantage, and it's just him versus Lloyd
and Lloyd's friends.
During the game: Miscellaneus Facts:
Mithos looks like a kid because he got his Cruxis Crystal at that age
and stop aging the same way Kratos and Yuan did. He used the Cruxis
Crystal to make himself look older so that his appearence would befit
the leader of Cruxis (i.e. people will have less respect for him if he
looks like a kid). He didn't start using that form until after Martel
died.
: I never found that Mithos had a particular hatred for
humans in general. He's a little uncomfortable around humans he doesn't
know because he's afraid they'll try to lynch him or something. He
makes a racist comment or two when he's upset about something a human
did, but then so does Genis. He likes Lloyd, and any dislike he has for
Kratos probably comes from what Kratos did. The Desians and a lot of
Cruxis go into all that "inferior being" stuff because they personally
hate humans, not because Mithos does.
He wants to create the "Age of Lifeless Beings" so that everyone will
be biologically identical. The reason other people think this is wrong
is because it means he has to kill off half the worlds' population to
get Exspheres (Cruxis Crystals?) for the other half. The people are
being killed because it's necessary to make the other people Lifeless
Beings, not because they're humans. No doubt he's giving half-elves
priority for being in the surviving half (never mentions any half-elf
as a ranch prisoner), but since half-elves take up less than half the
population, he's going to be keeping a lot of humans too.
I think people put too much emphesis on him just trying to resurrect
Martel and not enough on the other stuff he tried to do (keep the
worlds seperate to avoid magitechnology wars, make everyone physically
the same). While all that stuff was still wrong, they were all done
with good intentions (ignore what they say about the road to hell). And
he really cared about those goals and was reasonably sane up until the
point where he finally did bring Martel back. The person he cares most
for telling him everything he's worked so hard for for the last four
thousand years is wrong just made him snap. He's not sane after that
anymore. He forgets about wanting to keep the world free of war and
racism and just goes to the resurrection goal. He probably convinced
himself that what Martel told him was actually Colette.
But don't forget that if he hadn't split the world, mana would've died
off entirely and the world would've died. He saved the world! Doesn't
get enough credit for that. It's a little hard to judge Mithos since it
can be hard to tell when he's serious and when he's faking. But there's
one thing you can be sure reflect his true feelings: the aforementioned
skit. He has absolutely no reason to lie to Noishe. Although he tells
Noishe too ignore what he just said after Noishe gets upset.
Why does everyone act surprised when Mithos does something specifically
non-racist? Mithos isn't racist. Sure, he says something nasty and
racist everytime some non-half-elf makes him get emotional or lose his
temper or something, but other characters with friends of other races
have done the same. He hates human society for what they do to him and
he's wary of new humans he meets for fear that they'll mistreat him,
but he doesn't indiscriminately hate each and every human in the world.
Be more surprised about how humans were going to make up a big chunk of
the Age of Lifeless or something.
The game never said Mithos was the only pre-existing summoner. In fact,
it specifically says he wasn't. He was just the last summoner before
Sheena. (At least of the summoners who had a pact with Undine, Sylph,
Efreet, Luna, Volt, Shadow, Celsius, Gnome, Origin, or Maxwell.)

Character: Despite his phobia of monsters, but he's still
protective of Lloyd and Kratos. He also cares about Mithos and is very
sad to hear that Mithos is tired of living.
Background Story: Kratos found Noishe injured some 4000
years ago, while he was traveling with Mithos, and they have been
together ever since. Noishe and Mithos are aquainted, and Noishe is
upset when Mithos later says he's tired of living.
When Anna, unable to control herself as a monster, tried to devour
Lloyd, Noishe protected Lloyd, causing both himself and Anna to be
injured. He fell off the cliff with Anna and Lloyd and became Lloyd and

Since the incident with Anna, Noishe has had a phobia of monsters.
During the game: He was happy when Kratos began to travel

SEALS
The Seals are either ends of the places
the worlds are connected. There are five seals in each world: four for
the spirits forming mana links, and the Final Seal at the Tower of
Salvation. (Martel Temple is also refered to as a Seal at one point. Is
it an error?)
Many of the dungeons containing Seals are called temples, presumeably
only because they became places of worship AFTER being made into Seals.
The Seals are all rather different in nature; as Lloyd states at one
point, those in Tethe'alla seem to be harder to release. They are most
likely different out of coincidence caused by the fact that they were
all built by different people. The Triet Ruins are are a ruined city.
The Balacruf Mausoleum was built by the Balacruf Dynasty quite some
time before Mithos made it a Seal. Cruxis definately built the Mana
Tower and the temple for the Water Seal. The Ice and Earth Seals seem
to just be natural caves. The Lightning and Darkness Temples are a
little more questionable. Some players theorize that they may have been
forts used during the ancient war, temples for a different purpose
(might explain Abyssion wanting to go to the Temple of Darkness), or in
the Temple of Lightning's case, perhaps a ruined power plant.

they'll be willing to fight to the death if there's no other option is
a respectful understanding.... Colette said she'd be willing to kill
Sheena, but that's not going to make Sheena want to leave them, because
she has to watch them to make sure they don't just go regenerating
Sylvarant with no regard for Tethe'alla while she's not around. And she
can't just keep following around in the bushes either; as you'll see
later, there will be situations where she actually has to be a member
of their group to keep up with them. Sheena said she'd be willing to
kill Colette (and company), but that's not going to make Colette (and
company) want to leave her, because they want to watch her too. They'd
much rather be able to turn on her right outside the door to the Final
Seal than have her popping out of the bushes when they're not ready for
her. So they have a variaty of reasons to stay together, and their only
reason to split is simply a future possibility. If that possibility
turns out to be the case, they will of course kick Sheena out of the
party (and blood will fly). :3 He favorite food is rice.
SINOA LAKE
The lake on which Luin is built. {NPC

SORCERER'S RING
A ring that amplifies mana energy.
Magitechonology? There are multiple Sorcerer's Rings in existance.
They're used by miners to blast rock in Toize Valley Mine.

SPIRITUA
A noble and compassionate Chosen,
Colette's ancestor, and the very first Chosen of Sylvarant. It is said
that she carried out the world regeneration and evangelism of the
doctrine, spreading the Church of Martel throughout Sylvarant, and gave
her first sermon in Palmacosta. She wrote The Book of Regeneration
based on her journey and gave it to the royal family of Palmacosta. She
had Seven Disciples (aka Seven Saints), and High Priest Auguste is a
decendent of one of them. In Tethe'alla, she's considered an angel of
death who used the power of Martel to rip asunder those who opposed
her. As an angel, she supposedly killed a king of Tethe'alla who was
trying to harm Tethe'alla's Chosen, but how she got to Tethe'alla is a
mystery.

SUMMONING
SUMMON SPIRIT
{SQ Maxwell}
SYLPH
The summon spirit of Wind. Consists of
three sisters: Sephie, the eldest, who uses a sword; Yutis, who uses a
bow; and Fairess, the youngest, who uses magic and a big shield. Prior
to the Ancient War, the King Creo III of the Balacruf Dynasty made a
pact with them and used them to defeat a monster that was demanding
sacrifices.
SYLVARANT
- One of the two linked worlds.
- One of the two countries that fought during the Great Kharlan War
- One of the two moons, which is larger and silver in color.
Visible from Tethe'alla(1).
{Bookshelf (PS2 ver)}
TABATHA
Tabatha is an automation created by
Altessa to serve as a new body for Martel(2), but she originally
couldn't accept Martel's soul. She is presumeably magitechnology.
Character: Unlike what everyone expects due to her robotic
voice, Tabatha does have free will and the capacity to feel and act
upon emotions. She's obidient to Altessa, but she's capable of doing
things without his permission and even in disobidience to his commands.
She's very sympathetic to Exspheres, because she understands that they
are inorganic like her and are very lonely.
Background Story: It's not stated when Tabatha was made, but
since Altessa doesn't have a Cruxis Crystal and dwarves supposedly have
shorter lives than elves (1000 years), she presumeably can't be more
than a couple hundred years old.
During the game: When Lloyd's group first meets Tabatha and
Altessa, Tabatha tries to help them with Presea despite Altessa's
wishes. While they're gone, she tries to persuade Altessa to help.
Miscellaneus Facts: The her little figurine book blurb says she
uses mana like food. After the Tower is destroyed, Tabatha comes up in
Heimdall to say Mithos stole the Seed and took it to Derris-Kharlan.
How would Tabatha know that? All anyone else knew was that the Tower
was destroyed. It makes sense that she would try to go to the Seed in
an attempt to do what she eventually accomplished at the end of the
game. Whether Tabatha actually even got to the Seed, it at least makes
sense for her to be headed in that direction. Under the Tower. I figure
if Tabatha can get to Heimdall*, she could've gotten to the
Seed.Altessa didn't fix Tabatha. Right after you see her fixed, they're
talking about Altessa still being unable to do any work.
Doesn't seem like Martel possessed her because Martel did later....
I would guess that she went to the Great Seed Chamber (in attempt to
have Martel possess her), judging by how she knew that Mithos was
moving the Great Seed. If she got mana from it, or maybe a few of those
Chosen ghosts, before Mithos took it, that might explain the voice.
Some people have theorized that this is how she was repaired, assuming
it could work from a distance.
Ninjas or Yuan might've fixed her, but I'd guess the ninjas don't have
enough skill.
*BTW, does it ever say how Tabatha got to Heimdall? Borrowed a Rheaird?
Got a lift from the ninjas? Swam?
TETHE'ALLA
- One of the two linked worlds.
- One of the two countries that fought during the Great Kharlan War
- One of the two moons, which is smaller and gold in color. Visible
from the world of Sylvarant. Takes 42 days to orbit. (See Selene)

TOWER OF SALVATION
TRAUBEL STYLE
Regal's fighting style, taught to him by

UNDERWORLD
Niflheim.
UNICORN
UNICORN HORN
Horn of the sacred beast. It's a very
powerful catalyst for healing arts. Without the horn the unicorn dies.
VINHEIM
The castle on Derris-Kharlan. Because of
how extravigant its appearence is, how much it differs from Welgaia,
and the fact that the Sacred Stone is kept here, it was probably built
by the elves, not by Mithos and Cruxis, but the game never mentions
this, I'm just guessing.
VIRGINIA
Raine and Genis's mother. She fell in
love with Kloitz, a human from Meltokio who was in Heimdall on a
mission from the king. Raine was born, and they traveled the world to
avoid the half-elf pursecution. After Genis and Raine were sent to
Sylvarant, Kloitz and Virginia were found by the elder of Exire and
Kloitz died of an illness. Virginia went insane; she believes that a
doll in her possession is Raine and that Genis hasn't been born yet.
{SQ Virginia}
WELGAIA
A city on Derris-Kharlan, inhabitted by
Cruxis angels. It's basically the top of the Tower of Salvation.

that the people of Mizuho will offer to their god. Sheena and Lloyd
helped Presea make one to pray for Colette's safety.

WOLRD PROLONGATION PROJECT
World is split in order to keep mana
depletion to a minimum and sustain both the world and the Great Seed,
which seeps only small amounts of mana to one have of the world or the
other. Use of Summon Spirits to guard the Mana Link and restrict the
flow keeps the world from prospering. Prosperity would lead to
magitechnology and war, which would deplete further mana.

YMIR FRUIT
A red fruit which heals any illness and
grows in the Ymir Forest.
YUAN
Before you ask, his last name and age are
not given; he may not even have a last name. He's the guy who snuck
into Lloyd's room at Triet, Colette's room at Palmacosta, and Kratos's
room at Luin. His weapon is called a Double Saber.
All the sequel-ish merchandise material is in unanimous agreement that
he stayed behind on the planet to help take care of Martel and the
Tree. At least one of them has him and Kratos maintaining communication
via telepathy.
He was originally against Mithos and Martel's ambitions because he
thought they were naive, and he joined them to prove them wrong. He
eventually ended up having great respect for him.
ZELOS WILDER
There's some tension between them because
Seles's mother killed Zelos's mother. I think Seles expects him to hate
her for that, though he really doesn't (at least not too much). He most
likely stepped aside just long enough to use some kind of technological
method of communication (e.g. a telephone). Same goes for the Mount
Fooji incendent. He talked to Yuan and/or Cruxis (probably both) some
time before, and even if he did it right before joins you in the
cathedral, he still wouldn't have a chance to meet any of them in
person.
If you're on one of the endings where you keep Zelos, he also sends "a
message" to Orochi. Doesn't distinguish between pigeon carriar and
email, but he didn't talk to him in person.
He talks to Kratos with some kind of hologram thingy in a sidequest
scene. He talked to Kratos in person before that.
When he and Yuan conspired to drug dinner at Altessa's, they probably
didn't meet in person then either, though perhaps they could have.
Sedatives in the food.
ZIRCON
A precious ore, difficult to handle. It's
used by Lezareno company and studied by the Imperial Research Academy.
It's necessary for making a Rune Crest.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Kratos was talking about all the random underlings. Some Sybak
guy said he saw an angel falling when Mithos destroyed the tower. O_O
There could be lots of angels who were doing something between
Tethe'alla's surface and DK who are now wandering around helplessly.
Plus, doesn't the tower go down as well as up? How are any angels in
the lower half supposed to get back up to Derris-Kharlan without the
help of the Eternal Sword?
